Drawbar Organ
![]()
In fact DrawbarOrgan does exactly what its name implies, it simulates a simple organ. To make it sound a bit more analog some parametres can be set. The mainwindow of the application shows you the 8 drawbars, pulling them one at a time you can see the soundwave changing (below the volumesliders), creating an overtone series.
So the interface consists of the drawbars, volumesliders and wavedisplay at the left side and some parametres at the right side. From top to bottom;
• preset – presets are stored within the application, so far there’s no option to store presets somewhere else , presets can be saved here as well. If you want to manage your presets you might find it interesting to right-click the application icon and select Show Package Content. Here you can find your preset files and a file called presetlist. The last file contains all the names of all available presets…
• reset – resets all drawbars
• perc. pitch – defines the pitch of the percussion click and is specified as an addition to the played MIDI pitch.
• perc. add – might be a little confusing after reading the previous •. A percussion click consists of two pitches with a very short attack and a variable decay. The add parametre specifies the second pitch of the click as an addition to perc. pitch (e.g. perc. pitch is set to -12 and add is set to 5 then when playing MIDI note 60 the percussion click has two pitches namely 48 and a fifth above 48; 53).
• perc. decay – decay time of the percussion click in milliseconds.
• vintage – percentage of noise that is added to the frequency input of the organ’s oscillators. This creates the instable vintage sound.
• leslie speed – speed of the leslie simulation.
• MIDI input – choose your MIDI input device here.
• MIDI activity – handy to check on any incoming MIDI event.
• Audio on/off – like it says it turns on or off the digital signal processing, might have to turn off and on when changing audio output.
• audio output – choose your audio output.
• velocity on/off – when set to off all notes have a velocity of 100.
• leslie on/off – not working yet.
• panic button – hit this button in case of stuck notes.
Installation notes…
Installing the DrawbarOrgan is very easy, after you have mounted the Disk Image you can just drag the folder called DrawbarOrgan to any location on your hard drive. To get up and running simply double-click DrawbarOrgan and probably you are ready right now.
