NMP3ripper

Simply the easiest and most satisfying way to get extremely high quality mp3s in MacOS X. Period. NMP3 Ripper uses the LAME mp3 encoding engine which to my ears and many, many others provides the best sound quality / filesize ratio available. It has freedb and id3 tag support so you don’t have to type in track names and crap like that. If you’re looking for a fast and easy way to create high quality mp3 rips, this is it. One mouse click to rip and entire CD. It doesn’t get any easier than that.

From the website: “7.22.2004 – NMP3 Ripper 0.6.8 is out; it includes LAME 3.96, which should finally solve most all extended character problems.”
I know, I know, tried and true, but three years is a long time to go without updating an application.

There are a zillion other lame frontends out there; if you want a mapping of every command line option of LAME, use something else.
