The Conductor Program — computer-mediated musical performance

Remember how you could record a melody in your casio and how you could play it back only with 2 fingers and with a different timing ? well, this is the basic idea of Tapper.

Give it a midi file to use as a score, select the MIDI input and you’re ready to play with your own dynamics and timings.

The program sports a scrolled timeline in a super minimal sci-lab retro GUI that many will love (Enter for Fullscreen) and the author has been recording the videos to many classical scores and posting them on the net.

Just go to the world of Stephen Malinowski and read all about it because the project includes very interesting articles and timelines that you should really check out… I think i’m going to relax with some Debussy now…

    holy wow

that’s more fun than several barrel of monkeys

for those of you trying it for the first time, the key is to right click on the main display after loading up your midi file – that’s where the midi configuration is and where you can load a different midi file.

thanks for commenting about the right-click menu, it’s not so obvious at the beggining…
