Tunatic

Ever thought ‘what is this song?’ Let Tunatic hear it and you will get the artist’s name and the song’s title within seconds. Tunatic is the very first song search engine based on sound for your computer. All you need is a microphone and Internet access.
Tunatic can identify music from any genre except classical.
Tunatic can only identify songs that were indexed into its database, which is kept up-to-date by the community of Tunatic users through a program called Tunalyzer. If you like a particular genre or artist and feel concerned about its being identifyable through Tunatic, use Tunalyzer to contribute to the Tunatic database (it’s easy and effortless).
Will Tunatic recognize the tune if I sing/hum it?
Currently, no. Tunatic can only identify recorded music. Indeed, when Tunatic analyzes a song, it takes its timbre, not only its melody, into account. On the other hand, this selectivity allows Tunatic to discriminate between different versions or mixes of the same song.
Try it, it worked with all the tracks I tried it with !
I could see this very useful when digging out old tapes with mixes !

DON’T USE IT! DON’T USE IT! I have used a computer for a lot of different things,so I was really surprised. It really screwed up my music collection,[trail offer only50 songs, thank goodness].The songs it couldn’t find.about 1/3,it erased the names I had given them and replaced them with #’s.oh! that’s great.A whole bunch of them, it just gave each song exactly the same name.WOW!, I was fasinated at this point,I,d never seen such a screw up.Then it proceeded to give each song the tittle and the art work belonging to the next in the list, so the right info was there but with the wrong songs. Then after screwing everything up they ask for money,so they can do it to the rest of your music collection, sickos I think. :@..:~).
